Oregon Naturopaths Given Access to More Medicines

On Wednesday (June 2nd, 2009), the Oregon House unanimously passed Senate Bill 327, which expands the types of drugs that naturopathic doctors may prescribe.

Previously, they were only able to prescribe medicines from naturally derived substances. The new Bill 327 allows addition of many synthetic drugs to the list.

Laura Culberson Farr, executive director of the OANP, said the new law will put naturopaths closer to the level of other primary care physicians.
